Hey everyone, this isn't a Sonar specific question, but there is just too much knowledge on these forums for me to even bother asking somewhere else. I hope you don't mind :)

I'm going to be starting work on a new video game project, and I'm considering writing diegetic music and applying some sort of filter effect to the overall track that will make the music sound like it's coming out of a speaker within certain environments in the game (mall, elevator, car speakers, etc.).

Do any of you know of a plug-in effect that replicates these type of environments?

As always, thanks for your help.

You can use a mixture of EQ and compression to get this kind of effect.

There are some FX included in Sonar that have presets like "Radio". I'll have a look later when I'm at my DAW.

I would try a convolution reverb plugin such as perfect space and do a search for IRs (impulse responses) that have these qualities.

John is right. Impulse responses all the way!

Hi, good tips above, the
beyerdyynamic Vs can also be helpful.

i got it last year as a free download, just for registration.
The plug-in virtually simulates real speaker systems  but for headphones,
don´t know if that helps.

have fun

I use Focusrite VRM, which is a hardware box but works good for me.

ToneBoosters Isone is a software which can do this.

Speakerphone from AudioEase is specifically designed to do this. Has anything from a Nokia 3210 to tv sets, guitar cabs, bullhorns, etc.
