I just joined the world of Apple. Just wondering if Cakewalk has said anything about going to Appple's platform? Please forgive if this has been covered, as I have been out of the loop for sometime...

Thanks!

Most recent answer from Cakewalk regarding a Mac port is here http://www.cakewalk.com/page.aspx/Gibson-FAQ

I'm not sure why they'd wanna move to Mac's.  In the beginning Macs were more powerful and certainly used more by artists like film and music score folks.  With the power of the PC as it is now a Mac really has no advantage- other than being known for not being targeted by Virus developing [link=mailto:a@@holes]a@@holes[/link].  Some decent virus protection may be in order but I keep my studio PC off-line for the most part.  And owning an iPad and iPhone I'm not crazy about Apple products.

Now that Gibson owns (or is in the process of owning) Sonar, maybe there will be a new direction and a decision to develop a version for Apple PC's.  However, with a small part of the PC market it may not be worth the cost to develop and support Apple OS's.

Like Sacalait, I too have an iPad and an IPhone5 (and I'm happy with them), but I wouldn't consider paying 3 or 4 times more for an Apple PC.

While Apple has a smaller share of PCs in general I would argue Mac is far, far more pervasive in the musician and pro studio world than PC is. I'm a professional musician in The Netherlands and the only musician/producer/engineer I know in real life who is running Windows.

I believe the developing cost and strong competition (think full Logic for 200 bucks) are the main reasons not to go this way.

Cakewalk has always maintained the PC only position for Sonar. Can't see it changing.

A relatively small outfit like Cakewalk simply doesn't have the resources to set up a completely separate development team for IOS
