That's fine - sometimes overseas calls to Cakewalk tech support don't line up well with time zones and charges.

And, I think I was suggesting that if you did participate in the forum posts, that you either provide helpful ideas or at least relevant content to discussion.  I flag spammers here in this forum many morning, so I would never suggest someone post a bunch of spam :)

I hope they get you straightened out.  If they do not, my idea would likely still work for you over the weekend, as quite frequently one or more of the Cakewalk staff read and participate in forum threads (which is both amazing and way kewl), even into the wee hours of the mornings.

Thanks Bob - I know you were not suggesting that I spam the forum :). I've called support and after a quick call they have sent me the link to take advantage of the upgrade price, and also put me back on the mailing list.

Perfect support and exceptionally helpful and polite !

Now I know what I'm doing this weekend.

Well, the weekend is over. Did you have a chance to test drive?  If so, your thoughts please.  Give us your Top 7.

I know there are 14 quadrillion posts about X3, but this would be fresh from a recent convert. At $99, it's not a bad deal, but I still debate the purchase. I am always on the fence, unfortunately.

So far I've completed the download and the install of X3, then downloaded and installed Addictive Drums, but other than a quick check to make sure the install was successful I've not spent time with X3 - work keeps getting in the way !

I'll post back when I've had a chance to try spend an hour or two with the new features.

I know what you mean, and thank you.  Be sure you patch-update to X3e first.

Sorry for the spam, but since this topic is "on top" and I am getting this "SPECIAL LOYALTY OFFER! You was so stupid to pay for SONAR X3 $30 more a month ago" mail every 4 days...

With X2 there was a "Club" with goodies, which was really for "loyalty": get it early and you get more goodies. And now it is almost invitation for all next releases to wait 1/2-1 year before upgrade for everyone who does not really need new features instantly (like me).

That is just a feeling from one noob loyal customer.

I'd be interested in upgrading too, but I haven't received an email.  I'm pretty sure I've tried signing up for them before with no luck.

I USUALLY TELEPHONE AND ORDER THE DVD'S FOR AN ADDITIONAL $29.00. It's less aggravation than fighting with a few gig download. These days, I upgrade every year when the $99.00 upgrade comes out, but the next version usually comes out pretty soon after that, a few months later. I think the upgrade is a great deal, they always include a lot of other goodies. For the upgrades, a couple times I skipped a year, and still got the upgrade for the $99.00 (bumps it up two years), but if you wait three years, the price goes way up.

Sometimes an update comes out within days or weeks of a new version coming out. I think they don't put the update in the regular download to make sure we are registered users. That makes updating a real hassle...they think we are all techies (full time engineers who get paid to understand all the tech details). I think they forget that some of us are artists and musicians and really don't care about the tech stuff, and just want the app to work tip top!

Ryan Munnis [Cakewalk]

Instead of continually taking cheap shots at Cakewalk, why not work with us so we can look into what might be happening?

Ryan - No cheap shots from me. I'm only posting here because I have not yet earned the privilege of sending a PM. I've been a customer since Pro Audio 9, and I just upgraded from X2 Producer to X3 Producer for $149, because I hadn't heard about the sale price. Is there any chance I could get my fifty bucks back, since I think Cakewalk has been reaching out with a ninety-nine dollar offer to folks just like me?
Thanks!

Good technique.  Is it usually the case that a upgrade of two versions would cost the same as upgrading only one version, e.g. X1-->X3 would still be $150/$99 (sale) and X2-->X4 would be the same?

Even if the sale of $99 never occurs, then $150 for a jump of two still seems more logical and cost effective. Unless, of course, you truly need that next version because of its "you gotta have it" features.
