Is there any chance I could get my fifty bucks back...

If anything, they'll give you a credit. I don't think they do refunds.

Can I get anyone's input before I make the leap. I'm a little anxious that I'll choose the wrong option. I'm using the UK site, as although I'm in Vietnam, my previous purchases are from the UK and I'm paying from a UK credit card. The options I get (and it defaults to the last) are

SONAR X3 Producer Upgrades (Download)

 SONAR X3 Producer:Site Price
Upgrade from SONAR X2 Producer£119.00
Upgrade from any SONAR Producer£159.00
Upgrade from any SONAR Studio£239.00
Upgrade from any other SONAR£319.00
Upgrade for any registered customer£359.00

I have Sonar 8.5PE, so I assume to upgrade to X3 Producer, I select the £159.00 option.

Is that right?

Instead of continually taking cheap shots at Cakewalk, why not work with us so we can look into what might be happening?

Ryan - No cheap shots from me. I'm only posting here because I have not yet earned the privilege of sending a PM. I've been a customer since Pro Audio 9, and I just upgraded from X2 Producer to X3 Producer for $149, because I hadn't heard about the sale price. Is there any chance I could get my fifty bucks back, since I think Cakewalk has been reaching out with a ninety-nine dollar offer to folks just like me?
Thanks!

I'll have to ask. As I mentioned before, my understanding is that this promo was invite only, not a general sale to all customers. Invite only promos are intentionally targeted at specific customers who qualify based on specific criteria.

Assuming your situation is identical to everyone else's is confusing since everyone's history and upgrade path isn't exactly the same (for example it looks like your upgrade to SONAR X2 Producer from SONAR 8.5 Producer was an invite only discounted SKU to begin with). I'm not sure that your situation qualified for this promotion (I'll have to ask).

Thank you for checking, Ryan. I really don't know if my situation is identical to everyone else's. I'm just a guy trying to keep body and soul together. The money I paid over the sale amount is a serious amount to me, so I had to ask. I re-signed up for the mailing list after I posted my question here, and my previous invite-only purchase must have come from being on that list in the first place, so maybe I do qualify. I also found a customer service email address and sent my request there.

For what it's worth, I've worked with X3 for about three weeks now, and it's the first time I've upgraded when I felt I got genuinely improved software, not just more plugins and fluff, so good job, Cakewalk (or Gibson, or Tascam, or whoever...).

Quickly downloaded and tried X3.  Wish I had more time...

...but I bought it.  What the hell, right? Haha!

Quick-shot trial analysis:

+ It was nice and smooth
+ MIDI and audio clips in the track view stand out more
+ MIDI and audio clip names in the track view can actually be read/seen
+ EQ with built-in spectrum analyzer is well implemented - no more SPAN?!?
+ Piano roll was defaulted to white, but it wasn't too bad.  Liked it more than my oscilloscope (custom) colors in X2.
+ Better implementation of horizontal meters
+ Main console bar at the top "pops" and is better on the eyes.  Maybe I can toss/uninstall my Duckbar??!
+ Meters seem to respond a little quicker
