  • [Answered] Can I have X2 and X3 on same machine?

Hi all

I currently use SONAR X2. I'm looking to upgrade to X3. When I do, will the upgrade remove/replace X2 or will both still be available to me. The reason I ask is that I have many projects recorded down the years which have a lot of V-Vocal tracks (many hours of pitch correction work). Yes, I know I should bounce them all as a matter of course, but I have only recently got into that habit.

Thanks in advance.

Absolutely you can.  Install X2 first, then X3.  I have X1, X2 and X3 on my DAW (all 64-bit versions) and they all co-exist just fine.  They will not over-write each other.  But because they share certain components, you want to install the oldest version first.

Oh, and by the way, because you have V-Vocal in X2, it will work in X3 just fine.  Even though V-Vocal is not included with X3, the plumbing is all there so that it will work in X3 if you have it from a previous version of Sonar.

Thanks. That sounds good. Didn't realise that V-Vocal could still exist in X3. Looks like I have nothing to worry about. Cheers.

Hey, John. I've upgraded to X3(e) and can't find RMix anywhere.  If you could help me find it, I would be most grateful.

Thanks,
Rob

R-Mix comes with X2 Producer only. If you have X2 it should be installed if not just install it from the X2 install.

I also have Pantheon from 8.5.

Yeah, I have X2 Producer (and R-Mix) installed on the same machine, but when in X3 (Producer) it doesn't show up, even though when I installed X3 it said it was "populating plugins from previous versions" or something like that.  Are you able to access R-Mix from within X3?

Thanks for all the help/info,
Rob

Yes, R-Mix should be available in X3. Make sure to reset and rescan plug-ins http://www.cakewalk.com/S...reader.aspx/2007013315

Yes I am. It may need to have a specific path. Look in your VST folder under Cakewalk and check if you see "R-Mix SONAR Edition". Check if there are 4 files there.

Also be sure that you are looking under VST 2 FX in the insert menu. Or use the Browser.

Scook, that definitely shows the solution.  Not on my machine right now but will check it out later. John, thanks.  R-Mix doesn't show up in my VST2 folder or my browser.  I'll do a manual search and try to locate it.  But it cheers me to know, if you guys can see/use it, then I should as well after a bit of work.

Thanks again, you guys are the best!
