This DOES suggest that frequent backups are CRITICAL.  :)

Yeah, just now I got the same error message which prompted me to check this forum.  I did what the OP did (hit play and stop) was able to save it.  ...pretty strange but.  It's happened at least once before.  And I DO save often!  ...for the most part...

General error again when saving. This time "Save as..." helped.

May want to have a look at the Windows Event logs

Hit play after closing the error dialog... After the song plays you will be able to save again... I had a problem with this and lost some work... So the easy fix is a lifesaver!
