This is very helpful Dan.  I've been meaning to sample my kit so I can trigger my acoustic kit on an e-kit.  This gives me a good baseline as to where to start,  but I also didn't even think about using that to enhance acoustic recordings.

Nice! I hope you continue to cover the entire kit! I always pick up new pointers watching other people work. These tutorial vids are gold.
 I'll have to try using a side mic on a snare, as I really liked the tone in the video. I usually place an omni mic to cover the heart of the kit (right over the kick, near the snare and tom.) Is this the mic position for your side mic, or a mic just pointed at the side of the snare anywhere it is convient?
