I'm often working out grooves with both hands while playback is looping.  When I find something that works, I want to instantly record it.  Having to move a hand to the keyboard to hit "R" often breaks the groove.
 
So I'm thinking about mapping a sustain pedal (which I almost never use) to Record.
 
Has anyone done this, or something similar?
 
I actually have 2 sustain pedals and 2 MIDI keyboards: a Triton and an Edirol ACR-A30.  So it would be great if I could keep one sustain pedal for actual sustain, and then somehow map the other pedal to "R".  Any suggestions on how to do that?

No this is what you need read my review. Cheap and works great with Sonar. They make 1 , 2 and 3 pedal models,,, get the 3 pedal model   $ 40
