Just asked a ford dealership if I could get some *competent* service ( JUST SPENT OVER $300 FOR AN OIL CHANGE BASICALLY I.E. THEY DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM) the guy says...*we can try, we've been playing the field for awhile*.  This is what I run into here.  Really incompetent people everywhere...lousy service virtually everywhere, reptilian's everywhere.  Thanks for letting me vent! Anyone know a competent mechanic in Portland?

There is a whole herd, er, generation of incompetent individuals flooding positions of past and retired competent folks. That why we need to expect poorer everything.

Indeed,  maybe I'm a crotchety old man at 53.  You would not believe the incompetence I experienced in various businesses today.  I got my street smarts by working in sh**** hotels (and nice ones too).  NONE of the various service industry people I experienced today is held to the standard that I was.  SMOLDH

What's scary is that there widespread agreement at top levels that we need a draft. Ugh!😯 

A draft might fix em as long as the brass is +45.

Part of the problem is that very few can actually understand the equipment they work on. IF it doesn't show up on the computer diagnostic their chances of fixing it are small to nil. That goes for just about everything we buy today.
 
You go into a bank knowing you have lots of money. You ask for $40 cash. The teller says the system is down. No money. Sucks to be you, we apologize. Why would you think that the washing machine or car would fare any better?
