Omg. I take it that your guys at CW like Chinese food.

When they moved offices they ended up right on the edge of Chinatown. I think that location was chosen on purpose.

Here's an idea....get a white coffee cup and a magic marker...and just make your own Cakewalk coffee cup by writing "Cakewalk" on the side...

Thanks for the mothership update Craig!

Hmmm... "obi-wan" has three syllables...
"Anderton"... does as well...

As I mentioned before, I truly hope Gibson Brands jumps on this and really makes the big "Industry Awareness" push.

They have the clout required to get the spotlight thrown onto Sonar.

One can only hope they do it right, and do it BIG.

"Help us Ander-ton... you're our only hope..."

(Sorry, couldn't resist!)

When I was going to Bezerklee in the 70's, I lived on the edge of Chinatown... back then it was called the combat zone. I hear all those good places to play, for musicians is now gone.

I don't know where young bands start out now a days. I just don't see those places like when I was out there.

You would play out in one bar, and your buddies/rivals played just down the street.

I just don't see that anymore.

Generally it wasn't "bands"...but more along the solo keyboard/organ player.  The "stages" were allocated for other types of entertainment.  But plenty of places for bands for sure, all over Boston, back then.

But yeah...bands paying to play nowadays...what is that?

From a marketing viewpoint I see no devastating consequences arising from an outline of future development. The secrecy is rather tiresome. I would love to know where the software is heading in general terms, and something beyond market drivers. Yes, the market is important but anticipation of future needs, and inculcating a desire for those needs, is what will transition the product to the forefront.

I could tell what I have in mind, but you will have to read between the lines unless more details are forthcoming. And yes the neural interface will be a part of the future. Get ready for invasive surgery...

There are direct competitors out there who would love to know as well.
Also if you develop "Feature X" and it's not ready in time for the full release (and the decision is taken to drop it), there are no overblown expectations if people don't know about it. Anyway swings and roundabouts.

Alex's explanation pretty much nails it. It's true that showing a poker hand to onlookers isn't a problem, but showing it to the other players is. And it's also true that it won't be possible to implement everything the Bakers want to implement, so before anyone can say something definitely will  be in the program, it not only has to be implemented but also QCed. And even if it passes QC, a later revision might break it. Any secrecy is not about being coy but about being prudent.

Just remember how bent out of shape some people got when Cakewalk announced an update for a specific month but it came out on the last day of the month...now imagine if Cakewalk announced some killer feature that ultimately was not doable. Some people would dwell on the feature that wasn't included rather than the ones that were.

Lets just say that X4 is shaping up to be a very exciting release. I'm excited that we're tackling some really innovative features that break new ground this time, in addition to refining major features and workflows.
