I've done what you suggested in your earlier email about changing the name of the file called 'programs.lst'. Then I went to the program browser and clicked F5.

GPO then popped up on the list. I tried to open one of the samples and I get this message:

'Error uncompressing program data - Program load failed.'

Any other suggestions?

Susan

I don't know where to find the values on the Windows Registry, or what they are! Any chance of a pointer? Thanks for taking the time to help.

If it helps I moved the GPO folder from the Multisamples folder to the Programs folder. And also when I click on some of the folders in the GPO the file have .sfz at the end of the file name. Is this significant? I must warn you I'm not very good on the computer side of this, as is obviously apparent!!

This is basically moot since you're moved the Multisamples folder (which I wouldn't have recommended) but:

Click Start > Run and type 'regedit' (no quotes) in the "Open" box. You'll see the Windows Registry window, and it will look similar to Windows Explorer. Don't change anything; you're just looking! To be safe, you can make a backup of it by clicking File > Export > All.

Then navigate to the key I posted by opening the branches (click on the '+' signs):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
  SOFTWARE
    Cakewalk Music Software
       Dimension LE
The window on the right will show you where SONAR expects to fine your Contents and Multisamples folders.

But frankly if I were you I'd just reinstall it at this point!

I just didn't think Cakewalk would advertise the Garritan Pocket Orchestra for Dimension LE and not give it to you! It's been in Sonar since Home Studio 6 XL!

ok so you got all the programs up right? i mean other things play fine , like synths or whatever?

when you say you "moved".. did you move or just copy the multisamples in that gpo folder over?

now the gpo folder that was in multi samples.. (that contains the wav's and sfz files) has to be in the place. so shift it back IF thats the only folder you moved and the other sounds besides GPO are playing fine..

the wav's are the samples.. the sfz.. are the mappings.. e.g.. rhodesc1... mapped to c1 and up to... rhodesc2.. mapped to c2 etc

there should only be a few "prog" files listed in program folder for DP LE...

there should be a few SFZ.. and a fair few wav's OFF your multi samples folder, BUT they need to be in an exact location to work or else when DP loads up the "prog" it can't find them..

so off multisamples you should have "Garritan Pocket Orchestra" folder... (containing the sfz's / wavs + sub folders like brass etc)
off programs you'll have "24 - Garritan Pocket Orchestra" (ONLY containing sub folders + prog files)

Thanks for all your help.

It looks like I'm missing the GPO Programs folder. There's nothing in there with number 24 or GPO, but all the samples are in the Multisamples folder.

Any ideas where it might be? I had a check around all of the folders and can't find 24 - GPO.

By the way I have put the GPO folder back as it was in the Multisamples folder.

I've checked out the Windows Registry and all appears to be in there apart from 24 GPO.

I think you're right I may have to reinstall. There must be somewhere which has a 'uninstall' button? Also, will I need to re-register? Will the serial and registration numbers I have work on the reinstalled Sonar 8? And, lastly, is there anything I have to do during the reinstallation for my problem not to happen again?

Thank you so much for your help.

nah there won't be.. there will be a reference to 2 things.. 1 "multi samples" and 2 "programs" as anything off them specific entries would be listed. Anything off both folders that has progs + samples will be used.

reinstall is probably your best route if you can't either of the folders.

One last thing on this from me then.

Can I use the Serial and Registration numbers I got by email when purchasing Sonar 8 when I reinstall?

Thanks to all who helped me on this.

I've just gone through this same issue. I purchased Studio 8 thinking that Pocket Orchestra was included with Dimension LE, but it's not - at least not on Studio 8.

I think this is a huge cheat, and also misleading advertising on the part of Cakewalk, since they SAY that pocket Orchestra DOES come with Dimension LE.
