Hi

If I select a number of RegionFX clips on a single track and then bounce to clips it all merges into a single clip. Is this really good behaviour?

The workaround is to bounce each clip individually, then I get to keep the multiple clips. Or am I missing something?

Thanks...

I think so, IMHO.

It's handy when you've done a lot of editing and have multiple clips to be able to combine them into one.  It's also handy to tidy up multiple MIDI clips into one.

If I want to keep the individual clips, I bounce them individually.

I have never really understood why the menu item says "Bounce to Clips(s)".

Cheers

Thanks. Logged a feature request and I've also requested Cake to change this to "Bounce to Clip" (CWBRN-25128)

It's "Bounce to Clip(s)" because bouncing groups of clips in multiple selected tracks will produce a combined clip in each track.

But I agree it would be nice to have an option to maintain clip indepedence and preserve lane assignments when bouncing multiple clips in the same track to apply clip FX, fades or other non-destructive edits (other than slip-editing where you can use Apply Trimming).

Thats normal behavior. That is what its suppose to do. you are selecting "bounce to clips" and that is what 'bounce to clips' does. So it is good behavior and intended behavior Alex

Would be good to be able to choose, but one of my most common uses of bounce to clip is to combine two separate MIDI clips into one, so I'm glad that's the default behavior.

The issue I logged with Cakewalk (CWBRN-25128) is summarised as follows:

Have two items...

1) Bounce to CLIP.
2) Bounce to CLIPS.

So....

1) A fix is required (change the resx file or whatever) to change the name from the current "Bounce to CLIPS" to "Bounce to CLIP". Currently what is described is incorrect.

2) Bounce to CLIPS (New feature/enhancement) bounces to whatever clips are selected and they stay as clips.

Thanks all....

My most frequent use also. Glad it works this way too!

@Alex:

How about this:

Bounce>
To Clip: and all clips selected bounce to one clip (as it does now)
To Clips: and all clips selected bounce to individual clips.

Or have another options window open and offer the above options.

Well exactly, I wrote something similar in #7. Cheers...

If you read Brundlefly's comment in post four, you will see that it is entirely correct.

Thanks, Brundlefly, now I understand.
