Yes, you are indeed missing something.

CJ is correct.

Yup and of course CWBRN-25128 got withdrawn (seems reasonable).

Cakewalk problem reporter:
"It's called 'Bounce to Clips' because you can bounce clips across multiple tracks."

I logged a feature request instead.

See CWBRN-25128.

We still need some option sort of option with bounce to clips.
Bounce to CLIPS should optionally bounce to whatever clips are selected and they stay as clips rather than turn into a single clip within the track. The default behaviour would be better as keeping as clips IMHO. Current behaviour is destructive (although you can undo).

Thanks..

So "Apply FX" does not exist in X-series?

Hi

If I select a number of RegionFX clips on a single track and then bounce to clips it all merges into a single clip. Is this really good behaviour?

The workaround is to bounce each clip individually, then I get to keep the multiple clips. Or am I missing something?

Thanks...

I think so, IMHO.

It's handy when you've done a lot of editing and have multiple clips to be able to combine them into one.  It's also handy to tidy up multiple MIDI clips into one.

If I want to keep the individual clips, I bounce them individually.

I have never really understood why the menu item says "Bounce to Clips(s)".

Cheers

Because you have the ability to select multiple clips in multiple tracks and selecting bounce to clip(s) creates one contiguous clip per track - hence the [possible] plural

Yes, but it only applies FX in the track bin. It won't apply Clip FX, fades, stretching, automation etc.

CORRECTION: Actually it appears it will apply clip-level edits, but it's not available (grayed out) unless there's also at least one FX in the track bin.

Thanks, Colin.

That had perplexed me before, and again when I looked at this thread.

Brundlefly pointed out the same. I guess it's not something I do regularly, so at least now I knowwhy.

I can see why Alex would want there to be an option to choose whether it produces one clip or many.

I, personally, find the default behaviour is the best for my workflow. I certainly hope Cakewalk spend their time on other issues before they get round to offering us an alternative.

Cheers

It's a feature request (not a bug) so I would hope X4. If it memorises the last setting used it won't really matter to me which is the default.

I'm not sure I'd have a lot of use for it, but this does seem like a nice workflow option.
