probably silly question showing my lack in computer skills...

But when I go to download something, specifically in the case, the "e" update for X3... I cannot choose where to save the file.  It automatically goes to my download folder on my C drive.  Is there some way I can choose where the download goes?  Right clicking the links doesn't give me any options.

When I go and download my X3 update, is it a mistake to want to save the download and have a backup of it somewhere?  I'd think not, but like above, I'm not having a choice with the links Cake provides.  Seems I'm missing something elementary in my [lack of] computer skills.

Well, I use Chrome, which has a setting in Settings that tells it to ask me where I want to save downloads, and that works great.

IN any case, you can always move the downloaded files to anywhere you wish, once the download completes.

And, the X3e update is an additional update that you need to download.  Run the base install for X3, AND PLEASE NOTE - use the explicit Run As Administrator option to launch the installer.  It is NOT enough to have a user account with Admin privileges - right-click on the installer program and click Run As Administrator to get the proper privileges for the install.

Als, temporarily suspend your antivirus software during installation of Sonar.  You can enable it again after the install finishes.

Lastly, after completing the install, launch Sonar with the Run As Administrator to complete registration, and also when you run Dimension Pro in stand-alone mode, and also Rapture in stand-alone mode, all with Run As Administrator, to complete registration.

cool...I went into Chrome as you suggested and made it "ask me everytime" where to put the downloads.  Great.
Deal is...my current C drive doesn't have the room anymore to download all this stuff...my new StudioCat computer is on its' way, and it'd be nice to have the files ready to load, once I get the computer.  I have plenty of other hard drive space.  Just gets me one step closer and a backup done as well.  Thx Bob...and for the other info as well.

I dare you to find the IE download folder,,, at least chrome puts it in your Documents folder where it's easy to find.

I like that Chrome lets you decide.  Almost finished with X3, as we speak.  Patch already d/l along with the free vid zip file, etc.
