  • Sonar cannot open project files in some scenarios. (p.2)

So both of you can drag and drop projects into Cakewalk?
OK thanks for clarifying, guess it's just a few who experience this (3 vs 2)...

I just tried to open a project in X3D via the explorer and with a double click and it opened fine in Sonar.

I wonder if you have Sonar X3 set as the default program to open cwp files?

Yes I have... Got to be my antivirus at my end. Thanks John.
Drag and drop was the issue I logged though.

So the issue is that at the time I was running Sonar as administrator, it works if you don't do this (just like the wav drag and drop issue). Previous issue was withdrawn as unreproducable because I missed out this step.

During the years I remember reading several posts about not being able to open projects via the browser. I can't recall ever reading about the cause nor solution.

If you have both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Sonar installed, it's worth remembering that the default file association will be with only one of them and sometimes it's the wrong one.

CWBRN-23172 still reproducible in X3E (following steps in #1).
Current status = Submitted to Development.
Please remember Sonar must be running as Administrator in order to reproduce this. Thanks.

Why do you run Sonar as Admin? When I just tried that it tried to re install the X3E patch.
I just turn my computer on and click the icon. Like this is going on 3 years now.
I understand installing as Admin, but I've never heard of anyone bothering to open software that way? Is this a version of Window 7 issue? I have used Ultimate, Pro and right now I'm visiting family and using Home Premium.

Maybe not everybody needs to run Sonar as Admin; it depends which plugins you are using.  SampleTank seems to require it.

People often open as admin in order to resolve plugin issues (often where software saves settings to the wrong area of the registry where the permissions are different). I avoid this nowadays. Nevertheless the bug is documented. Cheers.
