After a long and arduous upgrade to Win 8 I’m finally ready to add an additional monitor and use it as a control surface. I’m thinking 23”-24” size (don’t have room for anything larger) with 10 touch points. Does anyone have a recommendation that they are currently using with X3?

Also, I'd like to get a nice pivot arm to go along with it so if you have any recommendations that also would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike,

I'm using the Dell 2240.  A bit smaller (21.5 inches) than your ideal but has an arm built into the back so the surface slides from vertical to almost horizontal.  I have mine sloped like a mixing board right in front of me.  I'm using Win 7 so I haven't taken full advantage of touch yet, but for synths etc. it works nice.  I use a combo method w/ mouse and keystrokes, but since the display is right on top of my desk, it is no reach between the 3.  give it a look.  they were cheap after Christmas but have creeped up above $300 again.

Acer Model: T232HL BMIDZ I think i paid $500.00 for mine when they first came out. They're at Best buy now for$320.00 It tilts but I used a $20.00 VESA mount to mount it at an angle like a mixing board.

I'm using the same monitor (2 of them, actually). They work really well. There are a few touch items (like putting the focus on individual tracks in console view doesn't happen when you touch it, which has caused me to accidentally adjust the wrong values in the Inspector window) that I would like, but overall it's pretty nice. I like to stand and work (they're at about a 45 degree angle) and it's nice to use the transport controls and pinch to zoom. The new Quadcurve flyout is really touch friendly, too.

My monitor is in my signature. I've liked it and I do use the touch features. Touch isn't much good for working with envelopes yet.

Touch is great for console view and tracking. I also like using it with synths. When mixing in track view I use the mouse and keyboard usually.
