I have yet to open a project since X3e without it crashing.  Some I can't even open, "Runtime error."

Now to figure out how to uninstall X3e...

I would recommend contacting support. This shouldn't be happening.

Have you tried safe mode Treefight?

Please list your computer specs, look at my signature info at the bottom of this post for an example.

We can likely help get this fixed up for you, but need to know what kind of system, and additional info, to know how to best give you the steps you need to resolve your issues.

1.   What OS?
2.   32 bit?  64-bit?
3.   CPU?
4.   Audio interface present, or using on-board sound chip?  If present, what is exact model and what exact driver version is it using?  In addition, what Sample Rate is it using?
5.   What Sample Rate is set for Sonar?
7.   Is your Windows version up to date on maintenance?
8.   Are there errors listed in the Windows Event Viewer?
9.   What exact error messages are you getting when it crashes?
10. Dumps created?

Sorry for all the questions, but we need to have an idea of your setup, as well as the other requested information.

Please review and respond with ALL the requested information, and I will do my best to assist.

Did you run the update as administrator and temporarily turn off anti-virus software?

Now to figure out how to uninstall X3e...

Simple, Perform a system restore. Hopefully you made restore points before the upgrade.

What does your crash report say? Every crash has a report generated. This is uselfull info you need to state in your post.

I pretty sure its not an X3e as everyone would be seeing it ot at least most users would be having crashed, but that is not the case. A hot-fix will not fix your problem. Its prob coincidence (thank god for spell check) and its something else that is causing the crash.

What everybody else says.
This is the first time anybody has reported this sort of behaviour with X3E in these forums, obviously system specific, so I can't see how a hot fix would help.

Thanks...

Ok, thank you all for your help.

It seems to be working now, at least on the one project I'm mixing.

But here are the best I could do with the questions:

1.   What OS?

W8.1

2.   32 bit?  64-bit?

64

3.   CPU?

Intel i7-3930K 3.2Ghz (overclocked by ADK to 4.5 Ghz)

4.   Audio interface present, or using on-board sound chip?  If present, what is exact model and what exact driver version is it using?  In addition, what Sample Rate is it using?

Lynx Aurora 16 PCIe

5.   What Sample Rate is set for Sonar?

 44.1

7.   Is your Windows version up to date on maintenance?

Yes, but I'll check - correction, one "Important Update" available.  Will install.

8.   Are there errors listed in the Windows Event Viewer?

Yes, not sure exactly where to look, but for today there are 16 errors and two warnings under Administrative Events(!)  Many appear to be related to Waves (plugin - GTR 3.5, VSTi - element).  Maybe look for Waves update(?)

9.   What exact error messages are you getting when it crashes?

Usually just freezes, but with one particular project I get "Runtime Error!  This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.  Please contact the application's support team for more information."

10. Dumps created?

I don't know - the dump created message doesn't come up.  Can't remember where to look for them

I installed as Administrator ("Run as Administrator"), which I do for all apps.  Should I not be?

I don't have an anti-virus software

CJ - where do I find Crash Report?

John - I have not tried Safe Mode, but I will.

Thanks again.
