Hello everyone,

I am new to all of this this and so I was hoping that you guys could help me with a problem with Session drummer 3 as I'm trying to come up with my own beats.

If I write a drum beat but I want to add an extra note or 'hit', I need to increase the number of 'steps' within the sequence.

However when I do this, the basic beat I have just written is now shifted and the beat is completely out of time? I may be doing something very stupid here....

Also sometimes one of the pieces of the kit just vanishes and stops playing when I'm looping it within the step sequencer..

Thanks for your time guys

Seth has done a pretty good video on some things that could help you figure this out. Watch the whole video.

If you're saying you need to add events at a finer timing resolution, you can Bounce to Clips the SS clip to convert to regular MIDI clip, then right-click, choose Convert to Step Sequencer, and set the finer resolution.

You will probably want to set all durations to something no longer than the new resolution, using Event inspector, before converting back to SS clip to avoid Step Sequencer enabling more than one cell to represent the longer durations of the original clip.

Have you tried making beats in Piano Roll? There you are free as a bird.
I've never understood what's the benefit of accepting the limited workflow of a step sequencer.
Of course, so many use sequencer that there must be something good in it.

For dropped notes try increasing the "Prepare Using nnn Millisecond Buffers" from 250 to 500 or 750 in Preferences > MIDI > Playback and Recording
