Has it always been the case that the Audio Engine and meters stop working when Sonar loses focus?
I'm triggering a sound from a different application, and I noticed the meters were not working on the armed, echo-on track.
If Sonar has the application focus, and I trigger a sound from a keyboard, then the meter on the track responds.

I would prefer for the meters to continue to work whether or not Sonar has the application focus.
I don't find any configuration setting that seems to relate to this, but I could be looking in the wrong place.

Check "Share drivers with other programs" in Preferences.

It is already checked. Of the seven checkboxes on the Audio Playback and Recording settings dialog, I have checks by "Share Drivers with other programs", and "Always stream audio through FX".

Driver mode is ASIO.

Sharing drivers causes SONAR to stop playing when it loses focus.

That is what I was thinking. If you don't need to share and you want it to run when not in focus deselect this.
