Sony noise reduction.  It works well.  Doesn't remove all the noise, but knocks it down w/o knocking the sound out of your sound.
 
YOu could also try Cedar, if you have a couple of grand.

I've gotten pretty good results with BIAS' Sound Soap.  BIAS went belly-up a few years ago, but Sound Soap is back.  It's available from a company called Soundness.  It looks like it's just Mac for the moment.  They expect to release a Windows version very soon.  Here's the link:

Well, shoot! I forgot to subscribe to this post and just thought no one responded :P
Thanks for all the great input. I will try some of those trial versions of RX, etc., but for the money I think I can probably learn to love the pop, crackle and hiss... for now anyway. Thanks again!
