Can video be synchronized with changes of audio narration in Sonar X3 Studio?   A tutorial on trimming-in and trimming-out video frames (can't seem to make the link  hold  and show up in this post so maybe you'll have to Google Sonar X3  Video Edit) would make me think so but I sure as heck can't make it work? Admittedly I am awfully new and trying to learn quickly ... so if you can tell me what I am doing wrong I would be most appreciative.

Hey dub, I am glad you chimed in. I haven't used video within SONAR at all until two weeks ago and pulled in a 5 minute mp4 to edit the audio on, just simple deletions actually. It imported fine, let me edit, but on export it gets all the way to the end and tells me "Unable to export video. The disk may be full or an error may have occurred while processing. If you are using compression, a selected compressor may be incompatible. MF_E_UNKNOWN_ERROR"
 
I am totally unfamiliar with the export settings, and only have 4 Video Codecs listed (H264, WMV2, WMV3, and WVC1). I was trying the H264, but honestly not sure what to set all of this at. Is there a good reference for this?

To be clear, it was to stop spammers from sending private messages which in turn ends up in your email inboxes. Yes, this was and is a thing.

To change the Trim-In time

In the video track strip, click the Trim-In field, type a new number in SMPTE format, and press ENTER (you can press the SPACEBAR instead of typing colons, if you want, and you can type single zeros instead of double zeros). The Trim-In time is the time in your video file at which you want to start video playback.

To change the Trim-Out time

In the video track strip, click the Trim-Out field, type a new number in SMPTE format, and press ENTER (you can press the SPACEBAR instead of typing colons, if you want, and you can type single zeros instead of double zeros). The Trim-Out time is the time in your video file at which you want to stop video playback.
 
 
Also, are you using the SONAR X3d update?
 
If so, the SONAR X3d update introduced a new video engine utilizing Microsoft's Media Foundation framework. Previously SONAR would use a DirectShow video engine. This update provides better support for video compatibility.
 
EDIT: I'm getting ahead of myself here.
 
Ultimately I'd like to know which engine you might be using which the update will help us know.
 

I posted a similar query a while ago.  Sorry to neglect your posts and your assistance.  I was having trouble navigating the forum as I wasn't sure how to return a comment.  I have briefly looked at the technique that you suggest  but I think it is cumbersome.  Maybe I am missing something.  Do you know of a way to simply delete frames 2582 through 2632 for example?  
 
If I use trim-in and trim-out I somehow need to figure out how to re-access the frames e.g.,  2582 through 6600  so I can trim in at 2632 and trim out at 6600.  Then I need to bring what's left of the two trims together i.e., Zero through 2582  and 2632 through 6600 all to remove 10 frames.  Seems  like a lot of work for what appears to be a simple edit!
