X3 seems to have changed behaviour since X1/2 and I've been struggling with it ever since?

Here's the workflow I used to be able to do in X1/2:

When editing Piano Roll event > double Click midi clip in Track > opens in Multidock > drag Piano Roll from Multidock to 2nd Monitor > edit event > close Piano Roll ---------> Then the next time I wanted to edit any track events in Piano Roll I would just double click midi clip in track view and it would open it back up on 2nd monitor and could get straight back into editing.

With X3 it keeps opening in Multidock every time so I have to keep dragging, resizing and changing view settings every single time - as Piano Roll events come up as tiny dots when condensed to a 3rd of the screen! This is just wasting valuable time when I should be working on the music - especially in a project that uses a lot of midi.

Is there any way to get it back to X1/2 behaviour where it seemed to remember the last screen position/setup?

I have looked all over documentation and have tried Window Management page but can't seem to find a solution that works.

Has anyone else found this a problem or found a work around that speeds up the workflow again?

Many thanks

Try un-docking the PRV from the mutlidock rather than dragging this works for me with the Staff view.

I have tried both ways - and just tried again for sanity and double clicking on midi event, but always opens it back up in multidock within the Track view!

Is there some setting that you have enabled somewhere else that is allowing you this behaviour?

Thanks

Try un-docking the multi dock and float that out on your other screen.  However having said that I just dragged a track from the multi dock and then tried opening a couple of other tracks and they opened outside the multi dock.  Cannot think of anything I have set.

I don't have a problem undocking or floating PRV window to the other screen, as long as I don't close the undocked PRV it stays there - the problem I have found since switching from X1/X2 to X3 is that when you close the PRV window and need to open it again later it reverts back to being within the multidock screen again, before X3 Sonar remembered the last state the window was in and would just immediately open PRV in a separate window on my 2nd display screen.

Does anyone know how I can submit this as a change request to Cakewalk and ask for them to add this functionality again?

Thanks for the link!

I was hoping I had just done something wrong, but I guess Cakewalk changed the behaviour with X3...

cant you set these options in the track options ?
I thought you could.

I can't see any thing to change this in Tracks or Options - can you be more specific? Surely it would have to be a change in the global Preferences, otherwise would have to change it for every track in every project?

I've looked at creating a shortcut that opens PRV in floating undocked window but can't quite figure out how to make it work - Alt + 3 opens PRV (in Multidock), but not sure how to make it open undocked in floating screen??!
