Is this done with virtual instruments and meant to be recorded by a real orchestra? The sound of the strings is really too dry to be very functional at the moment to my ear.

Very good ideas throughout the piece. Love the bit from7:30 onwards! Very playful and cool chord movements.

I think the mix needs work, the percussions especially drown under the the rest of the orchestra and the larger parts seem at times a bit confusing.

But a very nice piece of orchestral music.

Thank you for listening.   I had some trouble with various bounces changing the sound of the mix, and it took a good while to resolve how best to fix it.   New mix now in place, even at soundcloud streaming quality it sounds better to me.   Nearly done with it, working on the last couple of minutes now.

I agree with Kuusniemi, lovely music, but needs to be polished to sound more natural.

Thank you, soundwise .. working on polishing the performance now that most of the notes are in place.   I wonder if my orchestration using short detached string notes with long sustained horn notes at the beginning might give a false impression of the string reverberation?    A full score of about the first 7-8 minutes at http://www.hartenshield.com/0513_2_andante.pdf

Here's a parallel mix with extra reverb applied only to the violins (they and all the other instruments had some reverb all along).

It feels like some dynamics/volume need to be adjusted to sound more natural. Other than that the track sounds great.

I don't really mind any perceived shortcomings of the virtual instruments (not that any jumped out at me) I just admire the compositional skill in something like this. Splendid.

Hello Mr. Copper, I love classical music.  Sometimes at night when I can't sleep, I turn on the classical radio station and the music eases my mind.

I don't know a whole lot about it, but I like your piece a lot.  It kept my interest.  As far as the instruments go, I guess I can notice that it is not played by a real orchestra, but the effort and amount of work it must have taken to do this is obvious.

Anyone who can take on something like this is in a whole different sphere than I am.  I'm just amazed that people can do stuff like this.

Where do you want to go with this piece?

Thanks for the comments.   Took about an extra week, but I think the latest upload has finally eliminated most of the unintentional changes to the music made by the software.

Just listened to the latest version...   Sounds pretty good from here.  Whatever you've done/changed for ambiance seems to work, giving the piece some live hall effect.   I particularly liked the woodwinds though - they seem to have more "feel" IMO.  Subjective of course.
