  • [Fixed for now] Console Mains Meter Scale Stuck!

On 11/21/2011 I submitted a Problem Report on the Console meter scaling not staying where I put it in X1c. I can change them but when closing and opening Sonar the meters revert to the default 42dB scale. Every version of Sonar I have has had this issue.

As of today the status is still in development.
Product: SONAR Producer
Version: X1c
Status: Submitted to Development
Summary: Mains console strip meter scale reverts to default on startup

I know it's not a priority or anything critical to Sonar's operation but does it still happen in X3d?

Not really sure exactly what you mean. Might be good to show us a screenshot?
Do you have the issue number?
Why don't you install X3D, recommended :)

The options are 12, 24, 42, 60, 78, & 90.

Choosing one of these numbers sets the scale of the meter to a certain range of dB. For example, choosing -90 dB sets the range of measurement of that meter to 90 dB.

You can also change the scale of a meter by right-clicking the meter to display a pop-up menu and choosing a new dB range.

The "non-segmented" "B" meter is where you will notice this the most as it displays the number scale.

However, the Console View Mains will always revert to the 42 dB scale no mater which one I select.

Can you verify that X3d does not have this issue?

Thanks,
Steve

You know, I never look at the Mains out. For that matter, I rarely look at the console view. Just tested this and yes, it appears that the Mains meter setting is a little wonky. I could replicate the problem setting the Mains by right-clicking the meter. Using the display menu in the Track inspector failed the same way. However, setting the value using the options menu in the console view is persistent. I only tested SONAR X3d Producer.

Just tested X2d Producer, the setting is saved using the console options menu just like in X3d.

OK thanks scook. Works here too. I new there was a way to lock it in but forgot about checking the Console Options menu. No other method of changing the meters will lock it in. And this only affects the Mains for some reason.

Some one marked this post SOLVED but it weren't me. I would consider it solved when the meters stay put no matter how one changes them, not just by the Options menu.

Thanks Cake but I already tried that. The report won't let me add anymore info.

I marked it as solved, because the problem mentioned in the original post was that the meter scale setting didn't persist, and this thread presented a solution that allows the meter scale setting to persist. I'll change the thread title back, but then that won't alert anyone scanning the thread titles that a solution has been found, which reduces this thread's value to the community. Would you be satisfied with adding [Workaround] so at least people know there is a way to address this issue?
