I use AD and only tweak them to create "AIR" on the drum buss... quite a few components go into the tweaking and all of the drum kit piece tweaking happens in AD, the mixing happens in SONAR. Don't know why you would want to take acoustic kit pieces and make them sound electric though.  Why not use electronic drum samples to do that?
 
But, I also use BFD3 which is simply AMAZING.  You have little choice but to tweak your sounds in BFD3 if you want to hear them amazingly. :-)

I tweak a fair amount.  If you are looking at turning the acoustic kits into electronic kits, the Indie add on is a great sounding acoustic kit, but AD included a bunch of AD staff presets and they are really cool.  Many of them totally alter the acoustic to sound electronic.  Just reverse engineering those presets was educationall!
