How can I make East West gold sounds better? They sound like toys. I use a Focusrite 2i4 interface. TIYA

Hollywood and Symphonic are known for being hard to work with. It's what makes them so good at everything whereas other libraries have a certain sound they work with but going outside of that realm they are built for doesn't work very well.
 
You have to work a lot with your velocities (CC1) and expressions (CC11) quite a lot and load in the proper articulations for what you're trying to do. It takes a lot of programming time but the results are fantastic if you do it well.

ew what?  piano, symphonic, hollywood? looked at ur profile... ur new to all of this.  Maybe give us a bit more to work with.  ew has built in verbs, lots of keyswitchings...
 
If you're gonna muk with orchestrating, you didn't pick the easiest thing to work with...As sinful noted above!   Albion ONE will sound amazing right out of the box.
 
I know this world of DAWlandia feels intimidating (you should of tried it a decade or two ago!) but you'll sort it out.  BTW, you should annotate your "signature" in your "user control panel" with all the important stuff like sinful and me... it'll help all of us in responding...

A bird name Herman was sick of flying south for the winter. So this year he decided to stay up north and party. He was having a good time, until the weather turned rather cold, so he started flying south.
 
While he was flying, it became so cold that his wings froze and he fell into a meadow. A cow walked up to the bird and crapped all over him! Herman thought this was adding insult to injury, but lo and behold the crap warmed him up.
Herman was feeling so much better he started singing. A cat heard him singing and walked over to the pile of crap, pulled him out, shook him off, and ate him!
 
Three morals: 1) everyone who craps over you is not your enemy; 2) everyone who pulls you out of crap is not your friend; 3) if you are happy in a pile of crap, keep your mouth shut!

yep! we live in a confusing world....   btw, did anything we said help?  Using Play 5? That's the first step... then,  checked your disk sample cache settings yet?  move them to 3 and this should help.   Using an ssd?  move libraries to it although that isn't a problem for me using ewql symphonic orchestra platinum...

I still don't know what the OP is talking about.  EW Gold is great for sounding out of the box.
