  • [Resolved] Session Drummer 3 locked up and will not play sound.

While working on a project using the step sequencer, SD3's meters locked up and the sound stopped. I searched a few threads here and found a couple with similar issues, but no resolutions.

When the sound quit, I restarted X3 and even rebooted. When that didn't work, I added an Addictive drums synth to the project and the midi played just fine. I opened a previous song I'd made using SD3 with the same results. Routing seems correct on the midi track being output to the only instance of SD3.

The meter on my midi track is jumping with the notes. The SD3 UI is semi-unresponsive. When clicked, the drum will move like it's supposed to be playing something, but there is no sound being output. I tried loading another SD3 kit, but it didn't respond either. The SD3 UI does not respond to the recorded midi notes.

Nothing is muted or soloed. The project has one midi track, the Session Drummer 3 track folder and a couple audio tracks, pretty bare bones.

Please let me know what I need to post up here to help troubleshoot. I'm a MIDIot so bear with me.

Check and see if you may have archived the track by mistake.

Nothing archived.

I tried bouncing the midi clips to a single clip, as per a previous thread, with the same results. No sound from SD3.

Does SD3 play in other projects?

Perhaps something is slightly corrupted in the current project, with regard to SD3.

Unfortunately no. I opened a previous project and even started a new one with no luck.

I suppose you could try doing a custom Sonar install with just SD3 selected, in case something weird happened to SD3 itself.

Bummer. It was bought as a download on Sweetwater. I don't have any install discs. Wonder if it appears anywhere on the Cakewalk account. (off to check)

ETA: Nope, not there. I guess it's solely part of the install.

Anything else I can try? I was just thinking, I did save a preset, wonder if that had anything to do with it? It worked just fine for a couple hours using it. Hmm, I'll try to erase it and see what happens. BRB

You must have had it registered before, so it should be in your account at the Cakewalk store.

Plus, what happened to the download files?

I have the 4 files, but they are non-descript. Session Drummer 3 is not listed in the several Serial numbers I was given.

Going to try to erase that preset and see what happens.

SD3 should just be a plugin that you would select as the only one, in a custom install of Sonar.  Only have it install SD3.
