How would you get the chopped vocal effect like in this song?  I was thinking maybe a vocoder synth track with the prochannel elcexpander gate with side chain to another track for the opening and closing?  Any ideas?  Here is what I am trying to achieve.  I don't know for sure if the repeating thing is vocal maybe its just synth but there is definitely some cool stuff going on there

The effect is in "one for the money" by escape the fate. (links don't work to post to forum I guess)
ah ah aha ah are you ready lets go, excuse the swearing sorry!  I know some of you whiz kids out there know how to get this in Sonar X3

Sugarbytes Effectrix, dBlue Glitch, Izotope Stutter Edit, Sugarbytes Turnado to name a few.
I personally prefer Effectrix, great plugin!

Anyway no idea about what song you mean (would be nice if you link to it)..

Try Melodyne anyway.

Pretty easy to find on Youtube.  Cool standard formula rock tune.  I'd never heard it before.  Oddly enough, it gives me hope.

Simple gating wouldn't do.  Gustabo nailed some good options.  I can see how a bandwidth-limited vocoder could get you there.  It might be just as easy to heavily-EQ the 'telephone' vocals and play it back in and/or alongside a synth/sampler.

Thanks, I definitely want to check out those plugins, the stutter edit looks like it can do what most people like about presonus.
