I may be doing some beta testing for SSL and am curious to know, how X3's Pro Channel plug-ins stack up to the Duende Native plug-ins. I've done a little research and found some video demos on their website and got to know them a little....they seem very expensive for what you get...do they really add that much more to the sound ?? Can I get similar results using the Pro Channel plug-ins ?? I'm thinking I can....any comments ??

I believe the Duende SSL series is generally very well respected. I haven't personally tried them. But the question is really what you want to find out;
1. Which one sounds most like a real SSL console/processor? Likely Duende will have the edge here.
2. How similar do the two versions sound/react?
3. Which "sounds better"? The most often asked yet most useless question.

Next question....If I am selected to do the test, in exchange for doing the beta test, SSL is offering one Duende native plug in for free. I could get the channel strip eq and dynamic compressor, a buss compressor, the x-verb, or an eq....

The channel strip would give me the SSL board sound, the buss compressor sounds great, the x-verb has got lots of controls and also sounds great....if you had to pick one, which would you go for to use with your X3 Producer ??

None of these plugs will replace an actual SSL table, so I would go for whichever one you like best (since you seem to indicate you've been testing them) or whichever one fills the most obvious gap in your plugin lineup.

I've only heard short demo's of them. They sound pretty good, but I can get similar sounds out of the Pro Channel plug ins. I'd have a very hard time justifying buying any of them at their current price. I suppose I could always use another reverb plug-in more than anything, so I may go with the X-Verb. I hope I get chosen to be a beta tester. I'd like to have an SSL plug-in for my arsenal of tools.
