Hello Everyone,
 
Quick question here, I've been trying to figure out how to hear the effect on my bass track which has a sidechain triggered from the kick drum, but not hear any other instruments in the track including the kick drum.
 
I know it's possible, I used to do it, but I've been away from the DAW for a while.  :(

I have it setup that way (i believe that's the only way to set up kick/bass sidechain), but when you mute the kick drum, it stops sending the signal to the compressor on the bass track :(

I feel like it was so simple, just the right combo of mute/solo type settings.  I used to do it all the time, it was like a 1 step process.
 
 
 
 

make the send pre-fader, then turn the track fader down or
use the track output for the trigger input instead of a send

Another trick is to clone the sidechain track and route the clone to the sidechain input. That way you can do anything you like to the original track, or for that matter to the sidechain track.
 
For example, an old-school trick is to filter and compress the daylights out of a copy of a vocal and feed that directly to a compressor's sidechain input for de-essing.

Hi ,i don't understand your problem......
Create a Sidechain kick drums track (output none),in the bass track you can turn on the sidechain button on your plugin,after you must create a send of this plug on the kick track and check the right attack end release value on the bass track comp.

Pre-fader send on the Kick track, and soloing the Bass track should do the trick.
