Fast is an understatement. I decided to give it a try against my better judgement... less than 1 second. Okay, I'll try another... Hollywood Strings Powerful System patches. Less than 1 second again. Hot damn.

Only on a SSD.   They load decent from a HDD.

Well, ya. If people don't have Hollywood on an SSD, they are doing it wrong. That's like trying to use it on a dual core Pentium with 3 gigs of RAM. You're shooting yourself in the foot. These libraries pretty much require SSD.

Mine are on a 7200 RPM drive...they take a minute to load...I can live
with that....but an SSD ( I have my OS one 1 SSD, and my DAW's on another)
is forthcoming...

Not necessarily. It depends a great deal on how one uses them. Mine are on 7200RPM disks and stream just fine. But, I do render the parts before I get to the mix stage. On really complex projects, if I start to run into problems, I will render parts as I complete them and then add additional parts on top.  SSD's are on the wish list, but I'm not ready to buy just yet.

It's not so much the rendering as much as it is the load times. When something is loaded, it's loading into your RAM which is why it's good to have a lot of it for these larger libraries. The problem is if you're loading large patches, it's going to take a long time. Great example: while I have Hollywood on SSD, I have EW Pianos on HDD. Pianos still takes at least a minute to load up a single patch. That makes loading a song, changing pianos or patches a huge pain in the butt.

Gonna wait for November sales and pick up some more SSDs. I've got x3 500GB SSDs in the machine already. >_>

I agree, load times are long. I generally open a project and do other things on another computer until it has finished loading, since I'm generally not in a hurry, it is tolerable. Waiting for Black Friday deals on 2TB SSDs here as well.
