Anyone have a toaster they would recommend?

This is not what craigb (ITHRN) wants, but if anyone else is looking for a toaster oven this is highly recommended:

It gets used here as a regular oven for anything big enough - and it's bigger than most useless-as-an-oven toaster "ovens". It makes consistently perfect toast or english muffins.

I've never had or used a toaster oven. It's a bit high for my budget, but it could be an option. Ironically, I don't know if I have enough counter space for it - this house has a TINY kitchen!

Our house is where toasters come to die.

I was going to say the very same thing.

It's not the elements that we have a problem with, but the mechanical device that you press down to start the process.

Our relatively new Breville toaster (less than 12 months) is now on the way out...

Before that it was a Russell Hobbs.

Can't remember anything before that.

Not sure where to go next...

Not sure I've ever come across a toaster that can compete with a gas grille, though I've come across quite a few completely useless toasters ranging from cheap domestic ones in people"s kitchens through to the catering industry ones Premier Inns let customers loose on which seem incapable of any result other than raw with a few brown patches or black.

Having said that, our current Bosch is about the best of an indifferent lot. Not sure how it would handle muffins, bagels or burger buns though.
