so if i create a wav file (for example using synthesis function in SF) and insert into X3c, then Sound Forge isn't grayed out in utilities menu.
But if i insert a loop file that i bought, sound forge is grayed out.

i am sure i followed instructions on adding SF to utilities menu - and it does work on some files...

any ideas on why SF is grayed out foor loops?

thanks everybody

SoundForge is is grayed out for REX files. Bounce the REX clip to edit in SoundForge.

this is a wav file that its grayed out on. if i open the file in sound forge (without going thru sonar) and modify it, the save it to desktop, then import to sonar, only then will sound forge not be grayed out in x3. very confusing?

Does SoundForge stay grayed out if the clip is bounced?

after bouncing to clips sound forge is accessible.

Why does this work. What lead you to think it would work. Just so I understand?

thank you

There is something about the loop file headers that tell SONAR the files are unsuitable for use in WaveEditor type utilities. I would also guess SoundForge displays the "Raw File Type" dialog when opening these loops.

Bouncing the clips renders the loop clips as regular wav files.
