I've been working on a project and suddenly now when I open it, it says Silent buses detected and specifies my Vocals bus. Trouble is, it's not silent, it's not unassigned, it works just fine. So, why am I suddenly seeing this warning? This has happened a couple times in the past with X3, too. If I go back to an earlier version of the song, it's fine. No warning. Anybody else seeing this? Anybody have a cure?

To suppress the warning message set WarnSilentBuses to 0 in Preferences > File > Initialization File. To see "Initialization File" make sure the Advanced radio button is selected at the bottom of the Preferences dialog.

OK - that's how to stop the warning message from popping up but do we know why it happens in the first place?
I had this very same message last night in circumstances that sound identical to rodreb...

It's because X3 had a premonition that the forum was going to be taken over by a flagrant spammer, and it wanted "silence"

If you check the sends on your channels and asign any that you are not using to "none" this will also fix the problem.

Assigning unused sends (there were 2 of them) did not work. Not only did I still get the original warning but it also added the 2 sends that I assigned to none to the warning!
I will try Skook's method as soon as I have time.
I realize this warning is superficial and doesn't effect the project but, it is annoying as Hell and should not be happening! Something is not right here.
Thanks you guys for the help!

Hello,

I have seen this also.. I have two suggestions.
1. Try deleting and then re-adding the bus that is silent.
2.  Try deleting the Aud.ini file . This will force Sonar to "reinitialize" the hardward driver.\

For me suggestion one worked consistently. I suggest two because it seems tht Sonare gets "confused" about the in's and outs being detected and rebuilding the aud.ini may correct that state.  IHTH

Sorry , I think I should have said "Delete the Send" instead of set it to none

Sends that go "nowhere" will trigger the warning. Its there to let you know that at one time you had a send to something which no longer exists. Imagine you had a real send to a bus or hardware out at one point. You would want to know if your mix sounded different because the send is going nowhere right?
Nobody likes warnings but they are there to tell you that something is potentially not right. If you don't need the send why not delete it?

I've had this multiple times; deleting the send has worked each time.  (Or sometimes it's a MIDI track I've decided not to use and delete the associated synth, etc.)  But checking track/bus outputs and sends and removing non-used ones has fixed it each time for me.
