Any experiences with this mic?

I'm sort of looking for a luxury SM58 for quick and easy desktop vocals. Something that can do a bit of an allround job on instruments would be a nice bonus. I already have 57s and 58s, a Sennheiser 835, an AKG D5 and an SM7B, but I would like something that makes for a bit more radio-ready sound right off the bat!

All the reviews seem to suggest that this mic might be for me!

I'm intrigued by the Heil Sound PR35 as well, but it seems it would be impossible for me to try one out before I buy it, since the mic don't seem to exist outside the US...

Hm... Front End Audio sells the EV RE20 for just $419 (less than half of what I would pay over here)! This changes EVERYTHING! Or does it..?

The RE20 is a standard - for a reason.  That and the sm7.  Can't go wrong with either.

Of course, I've heard great things about Heil, too,  as the new dynamic kid on the block but I haven't used one.

i love the re20

but it has a certain....personality to it, that either works with your voice, or doesn't.

if you were building a mic closet, i'd say hells yeah, jump on that one...

but a DYNAMIC... specifically for singing.......?
there are some nice choices.....

with EV, 767 or 967** (really nice one, this)

Senn, 845

Audix, OM5

shure: over the 58, consider a Beta 87A

Yeah, I've always wanted the RE20, but I've never tried singing through one (just drums/cabs), as I only ever sing at home . The SM7, I feel I actually went wrong with. It's okay, but I don't ever seem to find any use for it. I suppose I'm looking for a dynamic with a more "delicate" sound than the SM7B, and I suspect the M80 and PR35 (or even the RE20) might have that.

So I hear! How would you describe said personality?

The PR 22 is the PR35's little brother or what?

Regarding the Audix, I've used that plenty and I really want something a little less "SM57ey", if you know what I mean! Is the OM series very different?

well, the re20 requires a pretty hot preamp signal...

but you can get real aggressive with this mic.

it is fairly flat, but full on the low end....
if you do a lot of close micing, the proximity effect has been neutralized with this mic.

i think it's better suited to 'strong' singers, and not to super dynamic or light singers.

It sure is man !

I love the Audix Range I don't have any of the OM range here but they vary in style there is a good selection on there site.
