See if you can find the multitude of threads that are here somewhere already on the topic. I know I've read a couple. General conciseness was, the consumer models sport low quality transmission circuits, so not only the sound quality is poor, but you will get RF issues too. There will be a constant hiss in your ears.
I have a set of the $ 90 Radio Shack infrared headphones. They are the solution to wireless but be warned, you cannot point your head away from the little sending unit that plugs into your headphone output. They will hiss at you very loudly. There is zero hiss when they lock on to the transmitter.
I do use them for guitar and bass tracking and they sound full and clean. I would not use them to check a mix. They have a built in re chargeable battery which is awesome. But it's nice to be able to get out of the chair and grab a different guitar or mess with the amp without pulling my interface to the floor.
