I like some of the "off the beaten path" films. I know that these are not hidden gems and most of them are probably well known around here. Still, most of the people I've met have never heard of them.
Smilla's Sense of Snow -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120152/ My wife and I have watched this one several times.
Parallels -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3479316/ This one feels like a TV pilot that needs to be finished, but I enjoyed it.
Primer -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0390384/ I couldn't get anyone to sit through this one with me, but I've watched it several times.
Mom and Dad Save the World -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104905/ Yes, it's just that stupid. I love it.
The Stupids -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117768/ No, this one is the stupid one. It's worse than Earnest Saves Christmas, but I'm not mentioning that one because I don't want to wear the jacket with the long arms again. Oh, that reminds me...
Dream Team -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097235/ Escaped mental patients in NYC. Something about this seems very familiar...
The Lathe of Heaven -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081036/ I could not love the book more than I already do. The movie is fantastic, if you've read the book and know what's going on. If you haven't, your conscious mind may not appreciate it.
Dark City -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118929/ Okay, this one is probably more mainstream, but it's old enough now that it's been largely forgotten.
Sorry about The Stupids, but at least I didn't mention Earnest Saves Christmas.
You're welcome.
