'Song of The Sea' - I love good animation, and this is one of the best of recent years.

Yup, brilliant.  As is Tomm Moore's first film, The Secret of Kells.

I love his style, really beautiful. It would be a dream come true if he did an animated version of  'The Weirdstone of Brisingamen'

What IS this "film" concept I hear so much about anyway?

Cellulose acetate film was used from the beginning of the 20th Century as a base material for photographic emulsions.  The audio-visual media which people have been enjoying for over one hundred years now takes its name from this material.  A sequence of still images, or frames, are projected at a screen at relatively high speed, with the light source blocked as each frame is changed.  This causes the human brain to interpret what is happening as smooth movement, a 'moving picture' or more commonly 'movie'.  You should try leaving the rock under which you live and check some out, you may enjoy them :|^)

I wish I had a nice rock to live under...

And for any of you Americans thinking about relocating north of the border, Canadian Bacon.

And of course, if Canadian humor is to your liking, you'll have to add Strange Brew to your list...

I like some of the "off the beaten path" films. I know that these are not hidden gems and most of them are probably well known around here. Still, most of the people I've met have never heard of them.

Smilla's Sense of Snowhttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120152/ My wife and I have watched this one several times.
Parallelshttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt3479316/ This one feels like a TV pilot that needs to be finished, but I enjoyed it.
Primerhttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt0390384/ I couldn't get anyone to sit through this one with me, but I've watched it several times.
Mom and Dad Save the Worldhttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104905/ Yes, it's just that stupid. I love it.
The Stupidshttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117768/ No, this one is the stupid one. It's worse than Earnest Saves Christmas, but I'm not mentioning that one because I don't want to wear the jacket with the long arms again. Oh, that reminds me...
Dream Teamhttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097235/ Escaped mental patients in NYC. Something about this seems very familiar...
The Lathe of Heavenhttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081036/ I could not love the book more than I already do. The movie is fantastic, if you've read the book and know what's going on. If you haven't, your conscious mind may not appreciate it.
Dark Cityhttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118929/ Okay, this one is probably more mainstream, but it's old enough now that it's been largely forgotten.

Sorry about The Stupids, but at least I didn't mention Earnest Saves Christmas.

You're welcome.
