Speaking of insects, I am looking for  sample of "Katydids" - if that's how you spell it. anyone have some?

Ludwig, I know exactly what you want because I hear them every night in the summer. It is a unique sound. I've been through my small library and can't find anything that's remotely close. I used to have the Microsoft Encarta and that had a sound clip of a katydid. I would try online nature related sites and try and snag a wav.

If you find one please share it. Last summer I spent a lot of time trying to sample nature sounds and didn't get one. In fact my knowledge was so poor on sample creation I trashed all of the recordings.

Those are also sound effects available on the TTS-1.

The Hollywood Edge FX stuff that comes with Dimension Pro (I believe on Extra Content CD), while limited in scope (Guns, Insects, Rain+Thunder) is actually of quite high in quality.

I browsed the content of that disc and didn't find anything in particular but, I think I'm going to install Sonar 8.5 and see how that goes with all things considered. Because! I'm having some issues with how my proteus pack is being loaded in X1. I can however browse to where it is. It just doesn't show up in the browser when I hit F5 in Dpro. yeah, it sounds retarted to me too. But, at least I'll have a Sonar to use the FX pack and the Proteus pack and a Sonar to do everything else. LOL Cheers!

The Hollywood FX pack is on the SONAR X1 Additional Content disk. You can't browse the disk to see all that's on it. You have to go through the install motion and you will see the Hollywood FX pack where you can checkmark it to be installed.

Cool, I got the download no discs but yeah, I'll certainly check it out and see what I can find. Can I choose to install the content without installing the x1 program? And if not, will I have to install all the updates again if I did indeed have to install it again? Thanks Thomas and gang!

Can I choose to install the content without installing the x1 program?

Yes. You don't have to install the program data, that's on another disk anyway. When you begin to install the Additional Content disk/download version, you will come to a screen where you can even choose which items to install by placing a checkmark in the box next to the item/s you want to install, so you can choose only to install the Hollywood FX pack, if that's all you want to install.

However, since it's the Hollywood FX pack that you want to install, you will, of course, have to have D Pro installed, already. :)

Hollywood Edge FX

I bought a CD with this title about 15 years ago.(still use it)  If you search out some used CD stores, probably find a copy for a couple bucks.

Same here. I bought a bunch of them including multiple volumes many moons ago. I recently ripped them all into iTunes so I can select which ones I want and then export it to MP3 with a conversion utility and import into Sonar. They work and sound great. I put them in a box and forgot I had them until recently.

I tried to install that into the same directory where of course everything else is

I'm not sure what your process was here, or what the coded installation process was for the Proteus Pack.  I have that expansion pack installer here somewhere, and I'll try looking into that.  32 vs. 64 bit may be the problem.

Support said something about a sample pool and this and that

The Sample Pool folder is the location where DP looks to first before scanning the the other multisample folders.  It's a neat trick for loading samples on a temporary basis.  I wouldn't call it good housekeeping for a permanent installation.

But, NO! when I hit F5 there is no magic.

The following process will work, but assumes that all of your .prog files are in a place where they can be 'read'.  If necessary, enable hidden file viewing for your system.  Search for the program.lst files.  Locate the one for Dimension Pro, and delete it.  (Careful: There's a programs.lst file for many Cakewalk synths.)  It will be regenerated the next time that you open the DP Browser.

The programs.lst file contains what you'll see listed in the Browser.  This process forces a 'hard' rescan.

Hey Tom - I don't know if you've been around here lately and I've just not noticed, but it's nice to see you regardless.  I hope all is well with you.

I remember back in the Sonar 8 days that if I remember correctly Dimension had a bank of sound effects. I may be mistaken. I know DSF makes an FX expansion pack of the such called Hollywood FX. I know I didn't by that but I'm wondering if by chance anything like that was included in any previous versions of Sonar. It's been a while and might not even be a Dimension Pro product at all. I just remember using it in something. Since getting X1 I've never come across those sounds and would like to find them. Thanks for any ideas!

D-Pro  did  have  an Effects Folder

I just got  done   looking at my old  XP  SONAR 8.3  its there,.... so DON'T FRet  LOL ;)  you are  not imagining things

MY QUESTION  can those sound Folders/Files  be transferred over  into and used in  64 bit version  ?  or the 32 bit for that matter ,.. since my Proteus Pack  loaded in both  just fine
