If you turn off plug and play in the bios and boot up into windows os does it show up in device manager with a yellow exclamation mark?

I actually have tried that, but with no luck. I guess I could checks with some people to see if I could borrow their cards to see if I get the same result. No need to be sorry at all Pragi....you're trying to help me and I appreciate it greatly. Thank you.

Another idea....
do this fw cards need a power connection to the  the main adapter
inside the box ?If yes, are they connected?

PSU Molex to firewire card connection?? ^ I believe Pragi is trying to say...if the card has one of those connections, plug it to the PSU

Haha....sweet dreams! :) But to answer your question...yes, one had to be plugged in and it was and the plug was enabled in the bios. The other two didn't require additional power. Thanks again.

This appears more a motherboard compatibility with the firewire card than a Focusrite compatibility with the firewire card I assume? If you can't get the firewire card working there's no chance in hell you are going to get the saffire working.
 
Here are firmware updates and chipset drivers, latest firmware was released 3 weeks ago:

After this please check in with Intel autoupdate:
http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect
 
Then try different slots...
 
What is the exact model of the SIIG firewire card?

Thanks so much for the links. I will definitely try them. You're absolutely right....it's definitely a MB issue not a Saffire issue.
The SIG card was the SIIG (NN-E20012-S2) 2-Port.
