Hey Mike, I am totally unfamiliar with Sound Forge, and "think" Frink is asking to simply do a (single) destructive NR pass on an audio file. Can that be done from the tools menu without running it as a plug-in?
Yes - that's exactly what I'm trying to do.
Thanks for the YouTube vid - Audition looks like it can do what I need but my cheapskate gene is preferring the free reaFir option.
The annoying thing is that my first DAW was acquired second-hand from a guy who was refitting his studio so it came with Sound Forge and the Noise Reduction plug-in. Both versions are quite ancient (pre-2000) so I have neither the means of the licences to bring them to my new PC.
I guess I'm inherently nervous about running too many FX in real-time, hence my preference to do a single destructive pass. However, I rather suspect that my new DAW has the muscle to handle FX in-line so I'm probably worrying unnecessarily. Worst case is that I'll bounce the track and create a post-FX new clip within SONAR.
Thanks for all your help though. I think, in parallel with this, I'll submit a feature request for noiseprint capture/reduction.
