I recorded an acoustic to a metronome on a track but when I go back to play it, it start right when I played the first note. I waited a couple of measures before I started playing when I recorded it. What am I missing?

I don't understand what you mean by "it start right when I played the first note". Are you saying the first note falls at the beginning of the first measure instead of the second or third? Did you have a count-in enabled in metronome settings? I'm not sure what you mean by creating a cue in this context, either. And what are you using for an audio interface? Anything's possible with onboard soundcards.

maybe you listened to 1 bar count in on the metronome before beginning to play, but your preferences > metronome have you set up to a 1 bar count in.

You can fix this by just dragging your recorded clip 1 measure to the right. Now you've got your 1 bar count-in back. :-)

Yes the first note falls on the first measure. Im using the Sonar Power Studio 250 as an AI. The count in was set to 2 Measures.

gswitz: Any chance you can tell me how to drag the track or tell me where to look.

Count-in plays before the transport starts rolling. So if you started playing at the end of a two-measure count-in, yes, your first note would be in the first measure. If you hover your mouse over the top of the clip it will change to a four-pointed arrow, and you can click and drag the clip later.

If you want to have the "count-in" to be the first two measures of the project, just disable the count-in in metronome settings, and the transport will start rolling as soon as you hit R.

If you have any trouble dragging the clip, shift click the clip until it says clip in the drop down box for the track (we're talking about track view btw). You can also just change the drop down in the track header to clip. then you should be able to drag it.

It will be easier to line it up with snap to grid on.

Sounds like the count in was used....and when you started, you thought you were 3 measures in but that's not the case. Cake gives you 8 beats of count in (2 measures) before it activates the record and starts scrolling the time line.

Perhaps you meant to say CLIP as opposed to CUE?  Clip being any section of music in a track either midi or audio.
Cue as I understand it refers to a finished and generally short piece of music used in film and TV. The short musical interludes you hear in tv reality shows are called cues. they can be from a few seconds to a minute or longer depending on the show's needs.

hope this info helps you a bit.
