Hi folks,

I've just upgraded to X3 Studio.  I believe I have all the relevant updates for my kit (X3d), but I just can't get X3 to find the VS100 as a control surface!

I followed this guide:

www.rolandus.com/support/knowledge_base/view/23377622

Even though it's not for X2, everything matches up, and I can't find a similar guide for X3.  Despite following these instructions, the VS100 does not appear in the 'control surfaces' box - it is blank.

I'm getting audio playing from X3 out of the VS100, I just can't use it to control anything.

Any advice?

Hello Pete

May I ask what OS are you using? (and is it 64 bit or 32 bit).
Have you the latest drivers relevant to your operating system? (Which driver are you running?)
.. and have you installed the latest system update?

All here anyway..

Thanks..

Hi,

I'm running Windows 8.1 64 bit
X3d Studio (build 240 - does that mean anything???)
v-Studio 100 updated to firmware 1.5 and driver 2.0.2.0

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Ok, so no suggestions from anyone, but got this reply from Cakewalk which has worked, so hope it helps someone else!

Your VS-100 should be configured as follows:
  • First, go to Edit | Preferences, and under the MIDI Category choose Devices and enable the boxes for MIDI (VS-100) and Control (VS-100) under inputs and outputs.
  • Hit Apply in Preferences.
*NOTE* If you do not see VS-100 drivers in Devices, close SONAR, turn the VS-100 off, and unplug the USB cable from the VS-100. Make sure that the VS-100 has Storage Mode set to Off. (To access Storage Mode, turn the VS-100 back on, then push and hold the Display button, and scroll to Storage.) Plug the USB cable back in and turn the VS-100 on before launching SONAR.
  • In the Preferences go to Controllers/Surfaces.
  • Click the yellow star button to add a new Controller/Surface.
  • Choose VS-100 for Controller/Surface and Control (VS-100) for both the Input and Output Ports, then hit Apply and OK.

have you set it up as a control surface.
in preferences, make sure you have it set up as a control surface as well as a driver.
choose from the drop down list.

EDIT
