"Lady Luck" (Rock)

NOTE: Second Mix Up - 11/20/15

Thanks for all your input so far, guys!

For this second mix, I freshened up the EQ on the bass with a little more high-mids after Jesse's suggestion (hope the volume level is still okay), and took Guitarpima's advice and added some quiet, clean Rickenbacker 12-string arpeggios to the second bridge after the guitar solo.

Greatly appreciate you guys checking it out!

Major thanks!
Bob

Me first! Like the roulette wheel sample Bob . Trademark huge, greasy riff here, got my head bobbing straight away. Love that change up into the pre-chorus (very cool after the short solo) and the descending riff into the hook, nice piece of arranging. Great effect right at the end too, like a stuck CD, like it! All sounding good to me on first listen, a worthy addition to a new album(?).

Nice rocker! My suggestion would be to add do some clean chord arpeggios during the second section where you  way "shine the light". Maybe a sound like Def Leppard uses in Bringing on the Heartbreak. Just to add another layer. The change from the solo back to the reprise of the second section seems weird to me but that's just subjective.

Well done!

Hello Mr. Bob, I really appreciate the quantity that you are able to produce.  Not only do you produce a lot, but you produce quality goods.

I really like the use of the roulette wheel sound at the beginning.  I like the organ that drops in around 1:50.  Your chops on the guitar are tasty.  I definitely like the layers.  Nice and crunchy sound.  Are you using sims or micing it up?  What axe are you using?

The change at 2:25 is cool.

I also like the laid back nature of the drums, not to busy at all, just right there.  I did notice a weird timing thing at :35, it sounds like the drummer was waiting for something to happen.  It does add a very live feel to it.  I noticed it again at around 3:00, but I like it.

I really like the way the guitars come in off the vocals at 1:58.

I know this is a 128 mp3, so the sound is not the pristine one that you are saving for later.  For some reason it seems I always recommend turning up the vocals and backing off the effects on the vox.  I wonder what would happen if you tried this here?
The bass seems to be lost a little, but I like a little more slap in my bass, or a little more organic sound so that is just me being me.

How far along do you think you are with this track?  Do you plan on making a lot of changes or are you pretty happy with the arrangement , choice of effects settings, and mix?

Nice work, I imagine you heard this before, but your band reminds me of Robin Trower.

Thanks for this, you have given me a lot to think about.

This has the Bob trademark stamped all over it.  I will keep the furry ears readied for the development mixes.

Thanks for sharing

Hi, James,

Thank you, good sir, I really appreciate your input and kind words!

Yep, I was sort of trying to go for a slightly "modernized' Deep Purple/Whitesnake vibe on this one, after getting home from one of our local casinos at about 4:00 in the morning, and this all fell into place in a little over two hours or so.  Sometimes you get lucky!

Big thanks, James, I'm always grateful for your input, observations and ideas on my stuff, truly appreciated, my friend!

Have a good one, James!

Hey, Robert,

It's great to see you back around on the forum, buddy, hope you're doing well!

Thanks so much for checking this out for me and for your input, ideas and kind words!

Yes, Sir, for this second mix, I took your suggestion and added a clean Rickenbacker 12-string doing some quiet arpeggios to the second bridge that comes in after the guitar solo.  I'm hoping I've got the levels right and they blend in okay without sticking out too much.

Big thanks for the good idea, and for taking time to listen and comment, greatly appreciated!

Have a good one!
Bob

I only heard the 2nd mix and this was really nicely performed & mixed. I'm always impressed with your very clean vocal recordings........truly a fantastic job!!! Of course, when the guitars come in, it simply rocks to a nice groove with beautiful tone selections.
Great job Bob!!

Hey Mr. Bob,

I'm listening to this mix from your site as I type.  The bass has more presence.  Nice job, sure wish I could make adjustments like that.

I still like that organ in there.

Nice work, a very solid effort.  I didn't mention last time that I like the ending too.

Listening to "Falling Faster" right now.  I can see I'm going to have to chime in on that one when I get some time.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Jesse
