Great video, thanks for putting it up.

The sax player in my old band played with Holdsworth in Level 42.  When asked what he was like to play with, all he would say was that he was a miserable b+-?@#%, and was a real downer on the tour.

I always felt that it was probably because he was playing in Level 42.  Good band, but probably not where Alan wanted to be.  I think it helped pay the bills, though.  I am sure that many of us have been there at some point (playing music we don't like just to earn money, not touring with Level 42, that is).  I still try to do it with a smile, though.

There's an old (early 80's?) video clip of him being interviewed on YouTube where he talks about how lame it would be to release singles just to get airplay, and then you attract all of these pop fans to your gigs and disappoint them by playing your "artier" stuff (at least I think that's what he was getting at). I couldn't help but think of Level 42 when he said that.

I think Holdsworth is probably like me, a miserable b******** when forced into close proximity with people I don't necessarily want to hang out with.

Kind of like Mike Patton in Faith No More when Mr Bungle is what he really wanted to do.

I'm guessing the newer ones say "Kiesel" on them instead of "Carvin" then?

I used to like this one.  I reloaded it with EMG Zakk Wildes' and it was great on planes and with my Pod Pro bean.

I like those and the higher up models ...
Once upon a time I could play one of those and look pretty good ...
Then time took it's toll and I got fugly and put on a few pounds ...
The verdict is in ...
No way am I ever gonna walk out on a stage to play guitar looking like a fat long bearded mountain man humping a tree twig ..
