Something else Cakewalk screwed with that wasn't broken.  I'm simply trying to insert a Volume Envelope to change/automate Controller 7.  It's not on the Rt Clk anymore, so will someone pls advise.

Now you have to use the event filter to do this stuff... There are a number of ways, one of which is the drop down menu for the track... It defaults to clip, but you can change that to automate|volume and the envelope will appear on your track... We now also have envelope lanes so you can elect to separate them out there (button next to the lanes button)

I personally find the HUD (heads up display) the most convenient method, easily accessible using the "T" key or your middle mouse button.

I too use the HUD popup as it doesn't require me to move the mouse from where I am... But for someone new to using it, I thought mentioning the event filter to be the most visual...?

I've gotten used to it though I still dislike the vision of the envelopes when they're not the focus... I can't see the color so I don't know which is which until I actively examine each.... I've complained enough and can only hope the future holds an elegant fix for this too...

Yeah, I agree Keni.

Hovering over an envelope will display the flyover, but of all potential color changes the display of ghosted envelopes would probably be my first choice.   Nothing drastic, just enough to differentiate between them.  Or perhaps making the active envelopes bolded or something to differentiate active from ghosted.

Thanks...

I know I can do the flyover, but I have to do this for each one until I find which I want.... It's a little better than before the flyover, but still needs more adjustment...

The envelopes actually do maintain a color if I remember correctly someone from Cakewalk displayed an extreme blowup view... but the pixel width is so small that the outline takes over at any zoom level I use... I never see the color...

When do you have a ghosted envelope? One not assigned to a destination? If you're referring to the non-selected ones when editing a selected one.... Yeah.... I liked it better before the event filter when each envelope was instantly visually distinguishable on top of the clip...

Now... to see something along those lines I believe I would have to use the envelope lanes which are not usually comfortable for me... I like to see the envelope on top of the data I'm editing as the visual is faster for me to keep imaged in my mind...

If they would leave the envelopes dsiplayed/not-displayed at their full color even when not selected I would appreciate that more... I know they're trying to make it look less cluttered.... so maybe make it an option? Please?

<sigh>...

Exactly - by ghosted I meant non-active envelopes.   While I never expected to use Automation Lanes, whenever I have more than a few envelopes on a track I find it easier to see things at a glance.
