What's the killer reverb to have?

Awluvum. It's expensive but you'll never doubt your reverb choice again.

Those are all certainly good, and Larry's (Lars?) list is a great start. It's also about 1/10th of Bapu's arsenal, so he'd be good to ask.

you might also look at Breeze, it's $125 right now but sale price is usually $75, which I think makes it a steal. xmas is coming . . .

Butt out of Lars' list, I don't own Altiverb, Phoenic or Hofa.....WTH is wrong with me?

Oh, I know. BF Budget has been met (and exceeded).

Money not being an option one way or the other, which reverb plugin would you guys pick?

Algorithmic: Fab Filter Pro R - I am smitten!

Convolution: Reverberate 2 - maybe not all out smitten, but quite in love for this one.

Err, how about an old school Tapco 4400

Waves H-Reverb is amazing. But has a learning curve and is a CPU hog. Sparkverb and Rematrix are both killer diller. UAD's EMT 140 and EMT 250 are must haves. And for other-worldly spaces and ambiences it's Blackhole and Eos. But I'm really loving the new Slate Suite.

Was listening to an ancient Yardbirds vid with Jimmy Page. He had a mechanical spring reverb. One knob for intensity. Way better than what I could do with anything available.

Reflecting on Bit's good advice that if you are wanting small spaces, shorter ambiances, doesn't matter what you go with, they all do the same thing.

The long lush stuff, the technological field is as wide open as the credit card is deep. Will not replace or even augment raw creative power and inspiration, but if any of us got the money to spend, lots of takers for a short weekend thrill...(Ilok not included...)

If I could only keep one it would be Valhallavintageverb. Luckily I can have several.

I own Lexicon MPX, IK's CSR, Eventide' StereoRoom, Waves Renaissance Reverb and TrueVerb and Valhalla.

My most used is/are... by and large, the ones that come free with my DAW (Space Designer in particular). Same when I was working with Sonar - Sonitus were my go-to plug-ins - and I especially liked the reverb.

Each of the other ones mentioned above can be useful. If I had to pick one, I'd probably go with Valhalla. That being said, I don't use reverb half as much as I used to - I've never bothered to try any of those fancy reverbs that people are buying these days. The only one I'm quasi curious about is Waves' Abbey Road Plate.
