I've been using BFD 1 and now BFD 2 for awhile, in a very simplistic setup. I usually do all my mixing within BFD, and then just have the stereo channel to Sonar.  I'm sure I can get a lot more granular with my sound, which is my goal moving forward.
 
Do you usually do all the audio tracks out or just keep it simple with the stereo?  I know I can keep them in a folder, but still that is a lot of tracks.
Are you mixing in BFD or within Sonar, or a little of both?

I like to have each drum on its own track. 

I'm with John: each in it's own track.  I would get a set up you like and save it as a template.

 Flat as in EQ, compression, etc?  Yes, except I do usually adjust the mic'ing of BFD, which a a very nice feature of it.

    I route a separate track for kick,snare,toms,cymbals& overheads, room mics.
   I've had success getting a good sound mixing inside of BFD2 but ,I prefer to have a visual view of every meter, fader and effect send for every track that I will likely need to adjust as I mix.
  Switching from console view to the BFD2 GUI to tweak the drums seemed to be a pain.

I've noticed that, and if I pre-mix in BFD and start adding audio tracks, the drums sound... dull'ish... and have to re-tweak them.
 
Thanks everyone, looks my KISS method is now about to get an upgrade.

I give them their own tracks as well and treat them like I would a fully mic'd drum kit (busses and all). Much better than having to open the BFD GUI all the time. Plus now you can use Sonar effects on each kit piece which are supposedly better than the included BFD stuff but nothing wrong with mixing and matching.
 
As far as setting it flat I would say no. I do an initial set up of the BFD mixer to make sure nothing is clipping at each kit piece's loudest velocity then check the BFD output section for clipping as well. Then I make sure nothing is clipping in Sonar. If all is good then I just close it and do the rest in Sonar. If the Sonar tracks are clipping then I go back to BFD and tweak some more. I find sometimes BFD runs a little hot so getting it set up right away saves time/problems.
 
I guess I use the BFD mixer like a mic preamp and the faders as trim knobs. Once things look good in both BFD and Sonar I forget about it and treat it like printed material. I'm starting to see more people mention that it's a good idea to freeze or bounce the tracks though so you are dealing with the same audio every time instead of the subtle variations introduced by having BFD play the parts on each playback.

Guess I'm one of the few who does virtually all their mixing in the BFD2 mixer.
Having said that I do have each kit piece routed to separate tracks as well as tracks for the ambient channels.
I do this only as a matter of course should I wish to use other fx outside of BFD2 in future but so far those occasions
have been very few.
 
I happen to really like the effects that shipped with BFD2 although admittedly they're six years old now and so maybe a bit long in the tooth but they're good enough for me.
I much prefer the BFD2 mixer to sonar's, like being able to have the aux channels adjacent to main kit piece channel.

Late to my own party~
How about the final mixing stages of the entire project?  Do you bounce the BFD to a stereo track first?
I've tested both and it's almost as if bouncing down before doing my final mix gives me a thicker, louder sound than just leaving it as a VST and bouncing.
When I did test the bounced stereo wave, I muted the VST, raised the volume a hair and left it.
