Hello

It seems no matter what I do if I move the folder:
C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Programs
to some other folder path and then change in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\dp\Contents folder
... to this new folder path, it won't work.

After I've done this I start Dimension Pro, go to the program browser, hit F5. Nothing. Also renaming programs.lst inside the folder won't work either.

Please note I've moved the multisamples without any issue.

Any ideas at all?
Thanks.

Can't help you Dr Strangelove Alex
I plan on moving all my DP stuff to a new hard drive on my 2nd system soon, so I'll be keeping an eye on this thread

I "think" we may be "stuck" with the ProgramData pathway.
One of my pet peeves is the default to the C drive for everything.
This is "Pro" gear, right?
DimPro "lets" you move/install the samples to a separate drive, maybe someone has a workaround for
the "Programs" location.
Rapture, for instance, does not let you select the location for its samples.
Not a "biggie" until you start installing the Digital Sound Factory stuff.
I was scolded once for suggesting Rapture "forces" the install to the C drive;
the registry hack was then pointed out, but users shouldn't have to "hack" the install to
set it up "right".
I installed Rapture to the Sample drive, but it still uses the ProgramData "Programs" folder.
I can't remember if I had to move the "Programs" folder or not; maybe I did.
Like many I prefer to keep the C drive "lean & mean"; and "imaged" frequently!

Only way I've found is to create junctions/soft links (you can use a command line command or there are a few utilities you can find to manage it more seamlessly).

Looks like Dimension Pro and Rapture suffer from similar issues.

What a PITA that I can't put program folders where I want them..

Thanks.

Hey Alex... Try using symbolic links for this. They work well and no regedit required.

For DimPro I have both multisamples and programs on a separate drive. For Rapture, it's just the multisamples; the programs are still on the C-drive.

I can't remember the registry hacks, but I'll post the details (or the link) when I dig out the info.

I reinstalled Dim Pro after moving samples to disk D. Works perfectly.
There's a prompt during installation where about "multisamples" should be placed.

The upgrades also needed separate reinstalltions. It's not enough to move upgrade's library to the multisample folder. Since they have an installation program along with library, I guess there are changes in registry involved.

Thanks I just need to move the program folder. If you can search the registry with the path to your program folder that may find it. Much appreciated!

Make sure the registry key is the path to the sample folder's parent directory, not the sample folder itself. Dim Pro assumes that name of the samples folder is "Multisamples".
