I guess I've forgotten how to do this!
I have a MIDI track of organ, and I'm playing it into the CW Sound Center, specifically the Hammond B3 product. Nice sounds.
But I can't remember the steps to convert the thing to an audio track.
What I tried was this:
My project just has the MIDI track, the instrument track, and an empty audio track. I set the input of the audio track to my Focusrite device (Stereo Saffire Loopback 1/2) and armed it to record. Then I highlighted and soloed the MIDI and inst. tracks, and played the B3, hoping to capture it in the audio track.

All I get is "Unable to create audio file for recording". Am I missing a step, or forgetting something? Its been a while since I did this. I usually just use VST libraries and bounce to track.
Thanks for any direction on this, or if you know where in the Sonar Reference Guide I need to go, that would be great too!

I use X2 and a Focusrite audio device, Core 2 Duo.

Use the track freeze function - Sonar doesn't like to record midi virtual instruments.

Select both the instrument track AND the midi track the feeds it (by control/click on their track numbers), then use bounce to track from the Tracks dropdown menu (source category tracks option). Make sure the whole midi track is selected as only the selected region will be bounced.

Follow Grum's advice and just freeze the synth. If you decide you need a proper audio track later on, just drag the frozen clip down into a new audio track.

Thanks so much! I'll give it a go!
