i want to assign a loop in matrix to a pad of my control surface. i right-click the loop and then select 'midi learn' from the drop menu. the midi learn button on top right of the matrix is lit and when i press the pad nothing happens.

what is wrong? is it that the loop is audio and not midi? all my loops are audio. it doesn't make sense...

the pads i'm using (korg nanopad) are working fine with some synths (like kore). the thing is - in kore - when i select 'midi learm' the light is flashing and not constantly lit..

Here's a really great article on our Knowledge Base that directs you on setting up your ACT Control:

Here is a pretty good video as well:

The Matrix should respond pretty well to your MIDI Controller, do you have that enabled in your preferences under Edit > Preferences > MIDI > Devices?

Also see p2032 in the Ref manual (oops...I was looking at the X3 manual...you're still on X1)

Try p1789 of the X1 manual...
